How it all began
On Sunday, July 26, 2015, Ajarn Mallika Tumwattana (Leeraphante), informed Associate Professor Jongrak Krainam, Ph.D, former Executive Director of Kasetsart University Laboratory School International Program, that she herself, her son Mr. Chayapol Leeraphante, and her daughter Ms. Chomploy Leeraphante, would like to invite Associate Professor Jongrak Krainam, Ph.D to be an administrator of an international school on a plot of nearly 30 Rai of land near Pathum Thani Bridge, Thailand.
Ajarn Mallika has long held a strong passion and commitment towards creating this school. Her combined experience as an instructor at Kasetsart University Laboratory School for 18 years and her experience as part of the management team at Kasetsart University Laboratory School International Program for about 10 years is the foundation which supports her drive towards the establishment of this educational institution. Between her time at Kasetsart University and the founding of Thai International School she has been working in the private sector as the mastermind behind a thriving food empire, Mallika Interfood Ltd.
Five dedicated and well-educated individuals, Assoc. Prof. Jongrak Krainam, Asst. Prof. Mantmart Leesatayakun, Asst. Prof. Naruemon Yutakom. Ajarn Mallika, and her brother, Dr. Nopadol Tumwattana, moved forward with their plan to create the school and soon collaborated to develop the following policies and operational goals for the governance of the school.
An International School with a Thai mindset: by making sure that the educational standards are based on commonly-held beliefs of what proper Thai social life and culture should be.
American Educational System: There are classes from kindergarten through high school for children to continually develop in various aspects. students will develop intellectually simultaneously with the development of qualities, virtues, and attributes to be a good citizen of a democratic society with the King as Head of State.
TIS curriculum while in alignment with the American education curriculum, once developed on the academic aspects, the curriculum will be adjusted to suit the purpose of the school and to be in accordance with social norms and the culture of Thailand.
The school schedule will run from each August to May of the following year.
It was agreed that the name of the school should reflect Thai identity, and the name THAI INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL (TIS) was chosen.

Ajarn Mallika Tumwattana received the license to establish Thai International School on June 14, 2017, and the school is permitted to teach students from nursery class to Grade 6. The first opening school day was on Thursday, August 10, 2017.
